 Support, for children
with additional needs

The Sensory Room

sensoryOur Sensory Room is a safe and calm space for children up to the age of 11. Designed particularly for children who have disabilities, it is also a relaxing space for children with learning needs or who are coping with stress. Sensory rooms are particularly useful for children with sight or hearing problems or for children with varying degrees of attention deficiency disorders.

However, we also welcome bookings from families with children who would benefit from special time out, to help them relax or bring them out of themselves.

The Sensory Room is equipped to provide either gentle stimulation or relaxation through touch, sounds, colour and other visual features. Colourful bubble tubes, glitter balls, tactile panels and interactive sound and light panels encourage hand and eye coordination, and the development of social and language skills. A water bed and projected moving images with sounds and music promote relaxation.

The Sensory Room is set up to suit the needs of each individual child and session timings are flexible.  The room is open 9.00-4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Booking is advisable to ensure that the room is available and to allow us to set up the room to suit your child’s requirements.
Please speak to our receptionist or call 01784 241407.

Support and advice from a speech and language therapist available every month.
